Terms of Service

By accessing or using SafeWatch Registry ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptable Use
You may use SafeWatch Registry for lawful purposes consistent with our Legal Disclaimer. You agree not to:
- Use the Service to harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate any person
- Use the data for employment, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data without authorization
- Circumvent rate limits or access controls
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law
2. API Terms
Use of the SafeWatch API is subject to additional terms:
- API keys are non-transferable and linked to your account
- You are responsible for securing your API key
- Rate limits apply per your subscription tier
- We reserve the right to suspend access for abuse or violation of these terms
- API data may be cached for up to 24 hours by your application
- Attribution to SafeWatch is required when displaying data publicly
3. Dataset License Terms
Licensed datasets are subject to a separate Data License Agreement provided upon purchase. Key restrictions include:
- Data may not be resold or redistributed in raw form
- Use must comply with all applicable laws including FCRA
- License is non-exclusive and non-transferable unless otherwise agreed
4. Intellectual Property
The SafeWatch Registry website, design, documentation, and API are the intellectual property of BYOQ. The underlying sex offender data is public record and is not claimed as proprietary. Our compilation, normalization, and presentation of the data is protected.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data. See our Legal Disclaimer for full details.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BYOQ and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
7. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, all API access and dataset licenses will cease immediately.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered API users.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles.
